Wortegemsen

Wortegemsen originated by chance from a local festive tradition. It was housewives who experimented with a drink served annually at the Wortegemsen Festival, made from fresh lemon juice, sugar, and gin. What began as a simple recipe grew into a national favorite.

After some time, Albert Kint brought these recipes together at d’Oude Stokerij and ensured the production was professionalized. This is how the Wortegemsen brand was born.

The gin tradition and the festivities eventually became so popular that the time had come to further commercialize the gin. In 2009, Filliers Distillery saw an opportunity to add this product to its portfolio. To this day, the fresh citrus pulp and the culture surrounding Wortegemsen maintain true cult status.
