Two Worlds, One Passion: A Stirring Journey at Whisky Festival Ghent

Events

From October 3rd to 5th, the historic city of Ghent once again sets the stage for the annual Whisky Festival, a celebration of craftsmanship, character, and community.

Go Beyond the Dram with Alcobrands

This year, Alcobrands invites whisky lovers to go beyond the dram with two exclusive masterclasses, each designed to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the spirit. Led by expert brand ambassadors, these sessions offer a rare opportunity to explore iconic distilleries, taste exceptional expressions, and connect with the stories behind the labels. Whether you’re drawn to the elegance of Japanese whisky or the smoky soul of Islay, these masterclasses promise a journey that stirs both palate and passion.

House of Suntory Masterclass – 12:00, 5th of October

Led by our passionate brand ambassador Michaël Yona-Costa, this session unveils the elegance and precision of Japanese whisky-making. Guests will explore a curated range featuring three iconic expressions:

  • Hakushu – A fresh and gently smoky single malt crafted in the mountain forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake. Known for its herbal notes and crisp character, Hakushu reflects the purity of Japan’s Southern Alps and the artistry of high-altitude distillation.

  • Yamazaki – Japan’s first and oldest malt whisky, born in the misty valleys near Kyoto. With its multi-layered profile of fruit and Mizunara oak, Yamazaki is a benchmark of complexity and depth in Japanese single malts.

  • Hibiki – A harmonious blend of malt and grain whiskies, Hibiki embodies the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship. With its elegant balance and floral character, it’s a celebration of nature, tradition, and the art of blending.

Islay Masterclass – Later on 5th of October

Led by Teddy Joseph, this session explores the bold and smoky character of two legendary Islay distilleries:

  • Bowmore – Known for its perfectly balanced peat smoke and coastal influence, Bowmore offers a refined Islay experience with notes of sea salt, citrus, and subtle sweetness.

  • Laphroaig – Bold, medicinal, and unmistakably peaty, Laphroaig is a whisky that divides opinion and commands respect. Its intense character is matched only by its heritage.

An Experience Beyond the Sip

Both masterclasses offer more than just a taste — they offer insight, connection, and discovery. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or a curious newcomer, these sessions promise to stir your senses and deepen your appreciation for the craft.

Seats are limited, and the experience is unforgettable.
